William Wayne Stout

October 15, 1952 — January 26, 2020

William Wayne Stout, 67, of Gastonia, passed away on January 26, 2020 at CaroMont Regional Healthcare. He was born on October 15, 1952, in Banner Elk, the son of the late Samuel David Stout and Dorothy Rebecca Gardner. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his 6 month old son, William David Stout; brothers, Roy Sam Stout, James Dale Stout; sister, Helen Rebecca Smith; and a nephew, Mark Smith. William loved playing gospel music on his guitar and was a member of a gospel band. He always watched over his baby sister and enjoyed woodworking and making wooden crosses. William was always one to help the elderly and loved leading people to the Lord.

William is survived by his sons, Samuel McCrary and wife Mendee, Timothy Darrell Stout, James Wayne Stout; daughter, Kimberly Stout; sister, Ollie "Annie" Chapman and husband Johnny; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Phyllis Self (his favorite), Wendy Stiles (his number 1), Robin Anderson, Carla Burnette, Eddie Smith, David Smith, Roy Smith, Jamie Singleton, Logan Stout, and Billy Stout.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, 2:00 P.M. at Sunset Forest Baptist Church, 903 Hickory Grove Road, Gastonia, NC 28056 with Rev. Jeff Hicks officiating.

Inurnment is private.
