William "Bill" Robert Coleman

William "Bill" Robert Coleman, 76, of Matthews flew home to his guardian angel to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Novant Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte.  He was born  in Queens, NY on April 15, 1944 to the late Robert and Alice Hibberd Coleman.  Bill was a faithful longtime active member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Charlotte.  In his free time, BIll loved collecting all kinds of sports memorabilia, was a HUGE Yankee's fan, and loved playing card games; especially pinochle and domino's at which he was very competitive in.  He was a very loving husband and he dearly loved his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Barbara Pantone Coleman; children, Joyce Pickett and husband Bill of NY, Penny Judkins and husband Brian of NC, Dianne Smith and husband Trey of TN,  Amy Barnes and husband Jon of NC, and Andrew "Andy" Coleman and wife Melissa of NC; 10 grandchildren, Jessica, Billy, Katelyn, Larissa, Kirsten, Kaylee, Logan, Zachary, Lucas, and Isaac, adopted sister, Kathy Sladek and husband Larry, and his favorite pinochle playing partners, Linda and Jim Bateman.

A mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 8541 Idlewild Rd, Charlotte, with Father John Starczewski officiating.  Interment will be held privately at a later date.
