Walter Crisp, 86, of Stanley passed away October 14, 2023 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas. He was born on September 18, 1937 to the late Enoch B. Crisp and Lela Crisp. He is also preceded in death by his son, Timothy Crisp; brothers, Oliver, James, Ray, and Howard; and sister, Evelyn Wilbanks. Walter was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in Stanley. He was a musician playing the steel guitar with the band Tennessee Cutups which headlined Don Reno and Red Smiley. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing. Walter was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carolyn Richards Crisp; sons, Don Crisp and wife Janice and Kenneth Crisp; daughter, Elizabeth McQueen; sisters, Virginia Braswell and Catherine Draughin; grandchildren, Brett, Brooke, Lauren, Zoe, Devon, and Braylen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Church, 208 N. Spargo St., Dallas, NC 28034 with Pastor Sherman Branch officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be held privately.
