Todd Duane McKinney

Todd Duane McKinney, 54, of Charlotte, NC passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on December 15, 2022 at Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center in Charlotte. Todd was born on September 25, 1968 in Charlotte and was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest Earl “Buddy” McKinney and Regina Mottern McKinney. 

Todd’s lifelong dream was to follow in his father’s footsteps of being a Charlotte Firefighter, however a medical condition kept him from doing so. Todd frequently visited various fire stations in Charlotte and enjoyed spending time and making friends at CFD.  Todd also enjoyed his job as a security guard and was very proud of his work.  Todd loved his family deeply and enjoyed spending time together, especially at Christmas.

Survivors include his brother, Ben McKinney (Trina) and children; and sister, Keitha Thomas (Jeff) and children. Todd also leaves behind his beloved biological child, Joshua "Shane" McKinney Thomas; cousin and best friend, Dale Tyson (Kristi) and children; cousins, Hope Tyson and Charity McMinn; as well as numerous other extended family members and lifelong friends.

The family would like to thank all the other family members and friends who loved and supported Todd throughout his life.  All of you made a huge difference.

A Graveside service for Todd was held on Sunday, December 18th, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Sharon Memorial Park in Charlotte.
