Theodore "Tom" Thomas Bobbitt III

Theodore Thomas Bobbitt, "Tom", of Gastonia, North Carolina, passed away in his home on Saturday, February 1st, 2020 at the age of 77. Tom was born in Ohio to parents Theodore Thomas Bobbitt Jr. and Katheryn Gray Crull. He grew up in Bamburg, South Carolina, Graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and lived most of his life in Columbia, SC. Three years ago, he moved to Gastonia to be closer to his family.

Tom had the heart of an evangelist. When he found something that made him happy or excited, he had to share it with loved ones, strangers, and everyone in between. He would share about Jesus, the best way to teach the world how to swim, that red onions were the most important ingredient in any side salad and countless other topics.

Tom was a fan of "dad jokes" before they were a twitter hash tag. He would always quip that his favorite flavor to add to his food was hunger-sauce.

Tom was a good man, and he will missed. He is survived by his devoted wife, Gail Bobbitt; cherished daughter, Kate Luna; loving step children, Stacy Henderson and Chad Rumney; proud sons-in-law and daughters- in-law, Jon Henderson, Misty Rumney, and Joe Luna; and treasured grandchildren, USMC LCpl Brandon Henderson, Nathan Henderson, Kaitlyn Rumney, Kendall Rumney, Josie Luna, and Jackson Luna; and sister, Kay Silver of New Bern, NC.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, February 7th, 2020, 4:00 P.M., at Friendship Baptist Church, 5008 S. New Hope Road, Belmont, NC 28012 with Rev. Jan Deans officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 4:00 P.M. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
