Steve Allan Mason, a loving husband, father, and pawpaw, passed away on June 26, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Gaston Co. on October 23, 1959, to the late Burnette and Edith Williams Mason.
Steve was more than a man of many interests; he was a passionate man who found joy in simplicity. An avid fisherman, he would often spend hours by the water's edge, finding solace in the rhythm of the waves. His love for pitching horseshoes brought out his competitive spirit in friendly gatherings with friends and family. Steve also enjoyed playing pool and partaking in rabbit hunting, dove hunting, and turkey shoots at the Moose Lodge – activities that connected him to nature and his community.
Away from the outdoors, Steve found pleasure in the thrill of sports. Whether it was cheering for his favorite NASCAR drivers speeding around the track or passionately supporting his teams in football and Atlanta Braves baseball games, his loyalty knew no bounds.
In the hearts of those who knew him best, Steve will be remembered for his kind soul and unwavering love for his family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lee Mason.
Steve leaves behind a legacy of love cherished by his surviving family: his devoted wife, Mary Duckworth Mason; beloved daughter, Toni Mason; grandchild, Madyson James; as well as many other cousins and extended family members who were touched by his warmth and generosity.
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 pm on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, with a visitation one hour before the service with the Rev Jerry Pennington officiating.
The memory of Steve Allan Mason will live on through the stories shared by those who were fortunate enough to know him. His presence will be deeply missed but forever treasured in the hearts of all who had the privilege of being a part of his life's journey. May he rest in peace knowing he was loved beyond measure.
