Sarah "Cordie" Armstrong, also known as "Ma'ams", 85, of Belmont passed away on November 24, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. Cordie was the last surviving of six children. She was born on October 30, 1936 to the late Rev. Robert Lee Hardin and Estelle Mullins Hardin. She is also preceded in death by her husband, former President & CEO of Yellow Freight and Owner of Holland Logistics, Reid Armstrong; sisters, Paula Hardin, Martha Frye, and Nancy Fowler; and brothers, James and Robert Hardin. Cordie was a lifetime member of Catawba Heights Baptist where her father pastored. She was a member of the Senior Choir, Bible Study groups, and Sunday School, and was also a member of Ruby's Angel's Women's Group. Cordie was known for her kind and loving heart, her witty humor, her prankster personality, her love of animals; particularly cats and dogs, and her love for the color green. She enjoyed going to lunch with her friends, especially to her favorite restaurant; R.O.'s Bar-B-Que. She loved going to the beach. She loved her family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Amelia Harris and Sloan Harris; son in law, Rodney Harris; grandchildren, Riley and Reid Harris; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 4:00 p.m. at Catawba Heights Baptist Church with Pastor Raymond Johns officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately by the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Catawba Heights Baptist Church Senior Meal Fund, 311 Belmont Mt. Holly Rd., Belmont, NC 28012.
