Ruth "MawMaw" Annette Giles

Ruth "MawMaw" Annette Giles, 78, of Matthews joined hands with Jesus on July 24, 2019 at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center.  She was born on November 22, 1940 to the late John “Hubert” and Doris Crenshaw Giles.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers, John “Johnny” and Michael Giles and also her cousin and best friend, Jackie Sue DeChambeau.  Ruth was a faithful member of Idlewild Baptist Church and Faith Sunday School class.  Her most favorite hobby was camping at and attending NASCAR races.  Her favorite driver to cheer on was Mark Martin.  She also enjoyed spending time tending to her vegetable garden and watching and feeding her wild birds. 

Survivors include her son, Robert Giles and wife Debbie of Matthews and daughter, Donna Jean Huguenin and husband Tommy of Murrells Inlet, SC.; sisters, Doris Jean Dial and Donna Faye Banning and husband Wilbur; brothers, David Giles (Judy) and Donald Giles and wife Linda; aunt and uncle, Pat and Alan Davis; 5 grandchildren, Melissa Coleman and husband Andy, John Giles and wife Christie, Carl Giles and wife Constance, Krista Holder and husband Zach, and Ashlyn Huguenin; and 9 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Idlewild Baptist Church, 12701 Idlewild Road Matthews, NC 28105, with Pastor Keith Whitener and Bert Giles officiating.
