Roy "Junior" Samuel Reynolds Jr. passed away peacefully just as the sun rose on Friday, April the 18th, 2025 at the age of 77. In his last weeks he was surrounded by family and close friends. Roy was born in Richmond, Va on August 7, 1947 where he still has loving family and friends.
Roy served in combat in Vietnam with significant distinction; recognized and promoted for his bravery and natural leadership ability. Like most veterans and heroes he fought with love of his country humbly and almost never talked about his service.
Roy was very successful throughout his career in sales and sales management; those that worked for him and with him also became his friends, some lifelong(Pete and San Anonio Mike).
He raised his family in the Matthew's, NC area, he then moved to Lake Wylie, SC where he lived for his last 20 plus years making many great and close friends. Roy was certainly not perfect but he made many sacrifices and worked extremely hard to give his boys a perfect home, life, and childhood. He was a loving and protective dad. He taught his boys how to play baseball and took them and any of their friends to practice often, always treating their friends like his own kids. He took his boys to many sporting events of all kinds and fun places from coast to coast, they rarely missed an annual car or boat show.
Roy really enjoyed fishing and boating in his younger days and took his family out often to do so at several regional waterways. He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his grandsons who he was very proud of and talked about all the time. Roy enjoyed a good western movie, watching the news, reading the sports section, and pulling for the Panthers, Hornets, and the Clemson Tigers.
Roy had a big and charismatic personality and inherited and passed along the gift of gab, now on it's 4th generation. He was befriended and admired for his work ethic, humor, and loyalty. He always kept a place in his heart for old friends such as Wayne Marable, Fred Taylor and family, Daryl Mabe and family, Joe Trent and family, the Dills, Williamsons, the Brewers, the McGoverns, John Marko and family etc. and many friends of his boys.
Roy was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roy Sr. and Esther Reynolds and his brother-in-law and close friend, John(Uncle John).
He is survived by his sisters, Ollie and her husband Jimmy(Uncle J) and Barbara(wife of afore mentioned John); his former wife, Kathy; his boys, Troy and Kevin and his wife Brandee; his nephew, Scott and family; as well as his niece, Beth and family; by grandsons, Tucker and Henry; and by close friends, Fed, Jeff, and Vic.
The family would also like to express heartfelt gratitude to all of Roy's friends around Lake Wylie and Clover that treated him so well and lovingly over the years; especially to the late Russel Smith Sr. and his entire family.
In lieu of flowers please make a small donation to whatever charity is most important to you and or if possible take a kid fishing.
Remembrance events will be announced in the coming weeks.
Roy will always be loved, missed, and remembered by his family and friends.
