Roland Massengill Jr.

Roland Massengill Jr. age 59, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday December 23, 2020. Roland was born in Munich, Germany on January 27, 1961 to the late Roland and Mary Capps Massengill. He was an employee of Freightliner and was to retire in January after 37 years. Roland loved anything outdoors. Whether it was hunting, fishing, boating, four wheeling or riding his Harley motorcycle, he enjoyed it all and usually with his family. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and his pet canine Cassie. Roland was loved by all who knew him. He is survived by his loving wife of 41 years Sharon "Shay" Massengill.  Children, Jessie Poteat (Danny), Rebecca "Gurt" Guffey (Brent) and Sam Mullis (Bryan). Brothers, John Massengill (Cathy), Johnny Walker, Wayne Walker, Glenn and Dennis Massengill. Grandchildren, Tyler, Jeremiah, Jacob, Tristian, Cameron and Zoey. Services to celebrate Rolands life will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday December 29, 2020 at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel with Pastor Jack Gouge officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 prior to the service. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to help the children of Webb Street School, 1623 N Webb St. Gastonia, NC 28052 which Roland helped annually.
