Momma's Poem
By: Jessica Gaddis
You are our heart, the soul of our family and even though you are leaving us behind for the next life, we do not cry for you.
We cry for us and the smiles we won't get to see anymore. The laughter we can no longer share. The beautiful things in life that you won't be here to share. We grieve at the absence of your light, love and joy.
You were our safe harbor in life's storms, a place to find love and truth even if it wasn't what we wanted to hear. You brought out the best in the people around you. Turned strangers into friends and friends became family.
You taught us all strength under life's pressure, how to smile through the pain. How to love and laugh through it all. These are the gifts you leave behind for us. A world so much better for having you in it.
Hearts filled with love, and joy. A legacy of faith, hope, love, laughter, and family. Duty, perseverance and strength. Today we cry for the loss of you but tomorrow we will remember you and we will laugh and share stories of your life, your joy, your triumphs and your beauty. We will be okay, we will survive and thrive, because you showed us how. We will always love you Momma.
