Robert "Bob" M. Burnett

Robert M. “Bob” Burnett, age 88, of Gastonia, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 at CaroMont Regional Medical Center. Bob was born in Mecklenburg County on February 7, 1929 to the late Robert M. Burnett Sr. and Edie Bumgarner Burnett. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years Sara Burnett and his two sons Robert D. Burnett and William “Bill” Burnett.  He was Founder and owner of Burnett Machine, Inc. in 1976 and remained active until recent years. He was also a Mason with Masonic Lodge 263 AF & AM. Bob loved to golf, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed vacationing in Florida, He enjoyed camping and loved to deer hunt with his close friend Tim. Survivors include his Business partner and close friend, Tim Hickson and his wife Angie and their children Dylan, Colby and Halley and his 2 grandchildren, Cheryl and Rodney. Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Gaston Memorial Park with Reverend Dwayne Burkes officiating. All other arrangements will be private. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565.
