Ricky Clay Morris, 63, passed away peacefully with family by his side on March 2, 2024.
Born and raised in Mt. Holly, he was the son of the late Clay Beaty Morris and JoAnn Pope.
Those surviving Ricky are sons Kelly Morris (Melissa) and Kevin Morris (Bethanie); sisters Vicky Dixon, Teena Murphy (Jim), and Heather Wyatt; and a grandson, Nathaniel Morris. He also had several nieces and nephews.
Ricky enjoyed playing cards, especially Texas Hold ‘Em, Poker, and Blackjack. He was a fan of the Miami Dolphins, NC State Wolfpack, and Duke. He was always ready to defend his team against his brother-in-law, Jim. Ricky was very good at billiards and both Kelly and Kevin will always have fond memories of their dad teaching them to play. A skilled fisherman, Ricky used to fish at Brinkley’s, often competing in tournaments. He was a person who was extremely proud of the men his sons grew up to be.
Ricky’s family would like to extend a special thank you to his sister Teena, for always looking out for her big brother. They ask when hearing the song, “The Ocean” by Led Zeppelin, take a moment to think of Ricky.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at 110 Springwood Lane, Stanley, NC 28164
