Richard Max Stone, 81, of Mount Holly, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Greensboro on October 11, 1936 the son of the late Floyd Wesley Stone and Theresa Berry Stone. Richard served his Country in the United States Marine Corps where he received the China Service Medal. He was the Commander (Retired) and one of three founding members of the 111th Search & Rescue Squadron, Civil Air Patrol. Richard also held a private pilot’s license.
He is survived by his wife, Lyn Stone; daughter, Laura Stone of Matthews; daughter and son-in-law, Debora and Robert Henry of Stanley; brother, Paul Stone of Gibsonville; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Carolyn Stone of Denton; grandchildren, Jaime Stone of Concord, Katrina Henry, Justin Henry, and Morgan Henry all of Stanley.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 9, 2018, 2:00 P.M. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mount Holly. A visitation will be held one hour prior from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M.
Interment will be on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, 2:00 P.M. at Salisbury National Cemetery, 501 Statesville Blvd., Salisbury, NC 28144, with Military Honors.
