Patty Ann Hawkins

Patty Ann Hawkins, 68, of Gastonia, passed away on February 3, 2023 at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was born on November 15, 1954 in Lincoln County, North Carolina to the late James H. Hunt Sr and Pearl Hunt. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sons, Danny Thornburg Jr and Roger Dale Thornburg; and her sister, Rosemary Norris.

Patty loved horseback riding, riding motorcycles, and taking care of her beloved animals. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family most. Patty was also a member of the Royal Priesthood Biker Church in Shelby, NC.

Survivors include her spouse of 33 wonderful years, Lee Burgin; son, Billy Thornburg and wife Deanna; sister, Cynthia Hord and husband James; brothers, James Hunt Jr and wife Regina, Jimmy (Blue Eyes) Hunt and Steve Hunt; grandchildren, Waylon Thornburg and mother, Robin Ford, Andrea Thornburg, Kayla Thornburg and Luke Thornburg; and 8 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral and Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St, Mt.Holly, NC 28120. Visitation will be held 2 hours prior to the service from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. officiated by Pastor Johnny Norris Jr.  Burial will follow immediately at Gaston Memorial Park Cemetery, Gastonia.
