Mary Charlotte Solmon, 84, of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 in Concord, North Carolina. She was born in New Hope, Alabama on September 23, 1936, the daughter of the late Thomas Raymond Solmon and Gertha Davis Solmon.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Billy Wayne Solmon, and husband, Dr. Clarence Jess Speas.
Charlotte was a member of the Methodist church in Oak Ridge. She was incessantly curious and she pursued a variety of vocations: business owner, healthcare business management, raising calves and farm work, medical transcription and sleep study technician, real estate and rental property management - and hobbies: painting, sculpting, hiking, travel, writing, and studying dozens of unique subjects that happened to pique her interest.
Charlotte is survived by her sons, Christopher J. Speas of Stanley, NC and Kurt W. Speas of Waipahu, HI; and grandchildren Sean C. Speas, Shelby R. Speas, and Chelsey Lyn deLeon.
Interment will be at Oak Ridge Memorial Park, Oak Ridge, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
