Mary Hayes

Mary Nell Ouzts Hayes, 97, passed away on August 3, 2021 at Woodlawn Haven Nursing Home in Mt. Holly. She was born in Lavonia, GA on February 22, 1924 to the late James and Mattie “MawMaw” Ouzts. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Guy Malcolm Hayes; brothers, Charles Ouzts, Clyde Ouzts, Clarence Ouzts, Robert Ouzts, William “Bill” Ouzts, and Eugene “Gene” Ouzts; sister, Gladys Jones; and daughter in law, Mary Hayes.

Mary was a longtime member of Maylo Methodist Church in Ranlo. She loved the beach and motorcycling with her husband before her illness. Mary was meticulous with her attire and appearance and always looked elegant and beautiful. She was a very loving mother and grandmother.

Survivors include her children, Guy M. Hayes, Jr. “Mickey” and wife Donna of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Robert L. Hayes and wife Pam of Dallas, NC, and Gary S. Hayes and wife Lynn of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren, Gregory S. Hayes and wife Amie of Gastonia, NC, Wendy Hayes Hooks and husband Chuck of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Brian Hayes and wife Micki of Dallas, NC; great grandchildren, Mara Hayes of Atlanta, GA, Mary Elizabeth Hucks of Myrtle Beach, SC, Mitchell Hayes of Charlotte, NC, and Walker, Roman, and Riley Hayes of Dallas, NC.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021 at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia with Rev. Dale Lawing officiating.
