Mary Cable

Mary Loretta Cable, 84, of Gastonia passed away January 25, 2021 at her residence.  She was born on January 5, 1937 to the late Garland and Essie Poole Setzer.  She is also preceded in death by her husband, John Lloyd Cable; sons, Randy Neal Cable, Richard Cable, and Dale Cable; brothers, Archie Setzer, Robert Setzer, and Marvin "Buck" Setzer; sister, Jessie Mae Leatherman; brothers in law, Jack Leatherman, and Lee Roy McCrary; and six nephews.  She was a member of Sharon Freewill Baptist Church for 45 years where she enjoyed teaching the Beginners Sunday School Class and singing in the choir.  Her favorite song was "Come Spring."  She also enjoyed visiting the mountains, working in her flower garden, and crocheting.

Survivors include her sons, Roger Cable and wife Tonda F. and John Cable Jr. and wife Tonda C.; daughter, Derita Pelusio; sister, Linda Kay McCrary; brother, Michael Setzer and wife Jane; sister in law, Frances M. Setzer; seven grandchildren, Nicholas Cable and wife Allison, Elisha Willis and husband Britt, John Cable III and wife Ashley, Avin Cable and wife Braeleigh, Amber Hatley and husband Jaerod, Dalton Pelusio, and Lexie Pelusio; five great grandchildren, David Willis, Alaina Love, Layla Love, John Cable IV, and Evalee Cable; five nieces; and eight nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday January 31, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. at Sharon Freewill Baptist Church, Gastonia with Rev. Odell Cook officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Church cemetery and will be private for family only.
