Martha Jean Jennings Duckworth

Martha Jean Jennings Duckworth, 85, of Belmont passed away December 20, 2021 at Atrium Health CMC Main in Charlotte. She was born on June 6, 1936 to the late John Jennings and Lela Mae Loudermilk Jennings. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Duckworth and brothers, Wayne and Junior Jennings. Martha was a longtime member of East Belmont Church of God. In her earlier years, she worked as a Mounted Police Officer patroling on horseback for Belmont. She also worked as the Cross Guard for Belmont Elementary and Belmont Central. Before her husband's passing, they enjoyed traveling and fishing together. She loved the beach, enjoyed sewing, cooking, and caring for her grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Mary Duckworth Mason and husband Steve, Cecil Duckworth Jr., and Loretta Duckworth; sister, Juanita Briles; brother, Leroy Jennings and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Tony, Markus, Shaylee Jo, Maria, and Misty; great grandchildren, Kayla, Madyson, Olivia, Junior, and Quan'dray.

A Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at East Belmont Church of God, 320 Catawba St., Belmont, NC 28012. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
