Mark Edward McDonald

September 5, 1965 — November 22, 2022

Mark Edward McDonald, 57, of Monroe, entered into the presence of the Lord on Tuesday, November 22, 2022.  He was born on September 5, 1965 to the late Edward McDonald and Darlene Parker McDonald.  He is also preceded in death by his twin brother, Michael McDonald and brother, Tim McDonald.

Mark was a loving husband, father, and the world's best Pepaw.  He was a member of First Assembly of God in Monroe, NC where he once served as deacon. He was also a  United States Navy Veteran. Mark loved to bowl and was a member of the bowling team at Fox's Alley.  He also enjoyed going to the movies; sometimes watching three movies back to back at the theatre.  He also enjoyed taking drives to the beach and staying for a night by himself.  If you couldn't find him at the movies or the beach, you would most certainly find him Monday - Saturday at his favorite spot- Hazel's Coffee House. He also enjoyed trivia and crossword puzzles.  Mark loved his family and when you left his house from a visit he would always stand at the door and wave goodbye until you were out of sight.  Mark was a man of few words; didn't express a lot, but always made you feel loved.  He will be greatly missed by his family.

Survivors include his loving wife of 32 years, Cathy McDonald; sons, Kevin McDonald and wife to be Carsyn and Jayson McDonald and wife Kelsey; brother, David McDonald and wife Tina; sister, Kay Dawn McDoanld; grandson, Coen Henry McDonald; granddaughter, Elliana Mae McDonald; numerous aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Mark's life will be held on Saturday, Novermber 26, 2022 at 2:30 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 2500 Arnold Dr., Monroe, NC 28110 with Pastor Steve Hastings officiating.  The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.
