Marie Dorothy McClure, born on December 22, 1935, in Bryson City, NC, to the late Ed and Mollie Crisp Shuler, departed this world on September 14, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center. She was a beacon of kindness and warmth, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts all who knew and loved her.
Marie’s life was a tapestry woven with love and generosity. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, nurturing her vibrant garden and embracing the tranquility of yard work. Her culinary talents were celebrated by family and friends alike; she took pride in canning vegetables, cooking for everyone, and ensuring no one left her home without a satisfied smile. Marie's spirit of giving was matched only by her adventurous heart, as she cherished travel, creating lasting memories during week-long vacations both at the beach and in the mountains.
She is survived by her beloved sons, Larry McClure of Belmont, NC, and Charles McClure (Debra) of Aurora, CO; her sister, Genevie Cassidy; along with her cherished grandchildren, Michael McClure (Natalie), Evan McClure (Heidi), Sherman McClure, and Jason McClure. The light of her life also shone through her great-grandchildren, Elam McClure and Everett McClure, who brought countless moments of joy and pride.
Marie was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Sherman McClure, along with four brothers and five sisters, each of whom she held dear in her heart.
Her spirit will live on in the memories and stories shared by her family. A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 12:00 - 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM, both at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St., Mt.
