Lourdes Sarao

Lourdes Sarao, 65, of Gastonia, returned to our Heavenly Father on June 5, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.  She was born on January 12, 1956 in Mexico to the late Jose Perez and Sofia Hernandez.  She is also preceded in death by three brothers. Lourdes was a member of Gardner Park Spanish Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Gastonia where she served as a Temple Preparation Instructor and Relief Society Secretary. Lourdes loved the Savior, Jesus Christ, and her love for Him was exemplified by her actions. She served people with all her heart including her incredibly blessed children and grandchildren. Serving the youth and missionaries of the Church was particularly joyful for her. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, growing vegetables, and all kinds of flowers.

Survivors include her husband, Jorge Sarao; children, Adriana Trejo and husband Eduardo, Jorge Alberto Sarao and wife Blanca, Angel Sarao and wife Melanie; 1 sister; 2 brothers; 6 grandchildren: Alcir, Kahele, Kaleo Kai, Noelani Lourdes, Evelyn, and Rabin; and many close friends and neighbors from her homeland of Tabasco, Mexico and here in the United States.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 2710 Redbud Dr., Gastonia, NC 28054, with President Javier Cepeda officiating.  Visitation will be held from 12:45 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.  Interment will follow immediately at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.
