Louis "Bud" H. Buchanan

Louis "Bud" H. Buchanan, 89, of Lowell passed away on June 16, 2023 at Caromont Regional Medical Center.  Bud was born in Gaston County on September 10, 1933 to the late James and Arizona Messer Buchanan.  He was also preceded in death in January by his wife of 67 years, Mabel M. Buchanan and also his brothers, Edward and Benny Buchanan.  Bud was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps.  He was a longtime member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lowell for over 50 years where he served as Deacon, Head Usher, and Trustee.  He enjoyed fishing at the beach with his son, Mark and also enjoyed taking trips with his grandchildren and spending time with all of his family. Bud also enjoyed making his yard look beautiful with all sorts of flowers.

Survivors include his son, Mark Buchanan and wife Karen and his grandchildren, Courtney and Blake.

The family would like to say a special thank you to nurse, Kim Sloan, for all the special care given to Bud.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Baptist Church in Lowell with Rev. Mitch Evans and Rev. Walt Griggs officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.  Burial with military honors will follow at Edgewood Cemetery, Lowell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, 1101 N. Main St., Lowell, NC 28098 or to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
