Kostas Dionysios Mariotis, born on May 25, 1990, in Ocala, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on September 5, 2024 at the young age of 34. He was the beloved son of Dennis and Christi Mariotis.
In addition to his parents, Kostas is survived by his son, Alexander Mariotis and also leaves behind a supportive family, including his sisters, Anastasia Koutsoupias (Giannis) and Shannon Brinson (Hipp), his Godfather and uncle, Vasilios Margiotis; as well as nephews, Johnathan (Marissa), Christopher, and Georgios; and his niece, Eleni; along with aunts, uncles, and many cousins who will remember him fondly.
Kostas exemplified commitment and discipline throughout his life. He proudly served as a U.S. Army Veteran, embodying the values of courage and service to others. His dedication to excellence extended beyond the military as he held a 2nd degree black belt in Taekwondo, achieving notable accolades as a two-time U.S. Champion, Pan American Gold Medalist, and Silver Medalist at the World Tournament. His passion for martial arts was matched by his commitment to his community, as he was a valued member of St. Nektarios Greek Orthodox Church, where he served as an acolyte altar boy.
Graveside Services will be held with Military Honors at 2:00 PM Thursday October 3, 2024 at the VA National Cemetery in Salisbury, NC.
