Kenneth "Ken" Blanton

March 29, 1945 — October 30, 2021

Kenneth "Ken" Blanton, also known as Poppie by his grandchildren, 76, passed away on October 30, 2021 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia.  He was born in Cleveland County on March 29, 1945 to the late Carl and Sarah Blanton.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Terry Blanton and a son, Shannon Blanton.  Ken was a strong, caring man who loved his family with all his heart.  He was a member of Catawba Heights Baptist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, bowling, motorcycles, watching football, working in the yard, and most of all spending time with his precious grandkids.

Survivors include his children, Kevin R. Blanton and Angela M. Smith (Todd); sister, Barbara Oates (Robert); and grandchildren, Jeremy Blanton (Whitney), Andrew Blanton (Nina), Brittany Blanton Lay (Patrick), and Devon Blanton.

A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Evergreen "A Quiet Place" Cemetery, Belmont with Pastor Phil Meadows officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
