Karen Elaine Springsteen, born in Bermuda on November 15, 1946 to the late Ray Smith and Audrey Campbell Smith, peacefully passed away on September 29, 2023, at Caromont Regional Medical Center.
Karen will be remembered for her warm and caring nature. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Stephen Springsteen, and a loving mother to her three children. Karen's family meant the world to her, and she treasured the time she spent with them. Her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment with them.
Karen had a passion for baking. Her delicious creations brought joy to those fortunate enough to savor them. Whether it was a scrumptious braided coffee cake or her delicious banana nut bread loaves, Karen's baked goods were always made with love.
In addition to baking, Karen had various interests and hobbies that brought delight into her life. She found solace in reading books and challenging herself with crossword puzzles. As an avid Elvis fan, Karen enjoyed listening to his music and reliving the era of the King of Rock 'n' Roll.
Karen had a fascination with corvettes and followed NASCAR racing with great enthusiasm. She particularly admired Richard Petty and supported his racing endeavors whenever possible. When she wasn't watching races, Karen cheered for the Atlanta Braves as a loyal fan.
Karen leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her children, Bruce Springsteen and his wife Merlie of Rawlins, WY; Eric Springsteen and his wife Lauri of Williamsburg, VA; and Andrew Springsteen and his wife Kimi of Dallas, NC.
She is also survived by her siblings, Sherry Miller of Honolulu, HI; Trudy Fetterman of Monroe, MI; Robert Smith of Augusta, GA; and Denise Williams of Lufkin, TX. Karen's grandchildren, Blessed, Shelesh, Japhet, Ethan, Caleb, Ryan, Kelsea, Elizabeth, and Brendon were a source of pride and joy for her.
In this time of mourning, let us remember Karen for her love of family and grandchildren, her passion for baking, and her diverse range of interests. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all those who were touched by her kindness and warmth.
