Karen Farr Lipsey

Karen Farr Lipsey, 53, passed away May 24th, 2019, leaving behind a wake of positive energy and kindness we must all now strive to emulate. Karen, born to Richard Farr and Sharon Bailey, grew up in Connecticut and spent childhood summers traversing the Northeastern coasts, sailing alongside family, friends, and dogs.

She then worked for over 30 years as a gate agent for American Airlines, and she enjoyed using weekends to criss-cross the country with her family and friends. Even as she grew older, she kept going strong, dancing at concerts while kids less than twice her age sat cross-legged on the lawn. She always had a smile ready and opened her doors to everyone, including fuzzy friends, usually with a cocktail in hand.

Karen is survived by her husband, Dan Lipsey, her loving son, Ben Dewar, and two stepdaughters as well as her mother Sharon Bailey and husband/stepfather, Les Bailey, father, Richard Farr, stepmother, Mary Ellen Farr, brother, Rick Farr and wife Jennifer of Madison, CT., sister, Kim Slezak and husband Pierre of Charlotte and a vast multitude of close friends.

Her life and memory will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 1st, at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, 101 Oak Grove St., Mt Holly, NC 28120. A reception will follow at 6:00 PM at Ole Dallas Brewery, 136 Durkee Ln., Dallas, NC 28034. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Karen can be made to the Humane Society of the United States, 1255 23rd Street, NW, Suite 450, Washington, DC 20037. However, Karen instructs everyone she knew that dance celebrations and cocktails in her honor are to be had at any time.
