Junie Odell Bates

Junie Odell Bates, 95, of Gastonia passed away October 19, 2015 at Gastonia Care and Rehabilitation in Gastonia. Mr. Bates was born June 13, 1920 in Gaffney, SC, oldest son of 12 children to the late Roland and Martha Allen Bates. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Willie Hovis Bates and 2 sisters, Minnie Fowler and Ruby Garner and 6 brothers, Charles, Jack, Lawrence, Ray, J.D. and Fletcher Bates and was retired from JP Stevens & Company.

Survivors include his brothers, James Bates (Trudy) of Dallas, Bobby Bates( Myrle) of McAdenville and Roland Bates (Karen) of Granada Hills, Ca. and also numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services to celebrate Junie's life will be held at 7:00PM Tuesday Oct. 27 at Benson Funeral Services Chapel, 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly with Rev. Dr. Bob McCully officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Inurnment services will be private.
