June English, (aka Juniemother as she was lovingly known by her grand + great-grandchildren) 84, passed away peacefully on September 1st, 2022 at Robin Johnson Hospice House while surrounded by her loving family. Once you met June, she was a hard person to forget. She was a natural people person, who had the ability to make anyone laugh and feel accepted as they were. She was always there during your time of need, to lend an ear or give a good piece of advice if needed. She had a charming personality and quick wit like no other and was never afraid to speak her mind, as anyone who had the pleasure of meeting her knows. June truly had a heart of gold and was always known for helping others. She was extremely close to her daughter, Samantha, and played a huge role in helping raise her three granddaughters, which will never be forgotten. She loved spending time with her family, debating on politics, music, reading as well as buying and recycling used furniture...frequently. Although we will miss her companionship and wisdom here on earth greatly, we are comforted to know she has been reunited with her beloved granddaughter and sister. This is not goodbye, just I'll see you later. Until then... "I'm a lovin' you".
She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Emily Lauren Upton, whom she shared a particularly close relationship with. She was also preceded in death by her beloved sister, Debra Mae Harrelson, as well as brothers, Jack and Roger English, and parents, Edith Wolter and Jack English.
She is survived by her daughter, Samantha Shaver Phillips (Jeff) of Mt.Holly, NC; son, Joe Putnam of Asheville, NC; granddaughters, Anna Jade Upton and Lindsay June Barr (Jake), 7 great-grandchildren, Gracie, Noah, Matthew, Easton, Lennox, Ryan, and Preston; brothers, Jerry, Steve, James and Jimmy English; and sisters, Lois Greenlee, Jeanette Hoyle, Debbie Hancock, Mary English Barrow, Angela Kilgo, and Shay Huggins. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many with whom she shared a close bond.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 4th, 2022 at 4:00 pm at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly with Pastor Sherman Branch officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 3:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
