Joyce Brittain Ballard

Joyce Brittain Ballard, 88, born in Burke County, NC on March 17, 1935 to the late Pinkney Brittain and Tempie Miller Brittain, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2023, at her residence in Dallas, NC. Joyce was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, Joyce is also preceded in death by her sisters, Lena Hildebran, Carolyn Yoder, and Luci Wilson, and brother, Wayne Brittain. 

Known for her warm and compassionate nature, Joyce touched the lives of many. She had a passion for cooking and delighted in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. Her culinary skills brought joy and comfort to those fortunate enough to share a meal with her. Joyce's love of travel took her to breathtaking destinations.

Gardening was one of Joyce's greatest joys in life. She had a green thumb and took great pride in caring for her beautiful flowers, especially roses. Her garden was a testament to her skill and dedication as she tended to each plant with love and admiration. Those fortunate enough to visit Joyce's garden were met with an enchanting display of vibrant colors and intoxicating scents.

Above all else, Joyce cherished her family. Her love for them knew no bounds. Before his passing in 2016, she was a devoted wife to Jacob Wiley Ballard and shared many joyful years by his side. 

Joyce leaves behind a legacy that will forever be remembered by those she leaves behind. She is survived by her son, Jacob Bryan Ballard; sister, Shirley Richards; brother, Glen Brittain; as well as several nieces and nephews whom she adored dearly.

Friends and loved ones are invited to pay their respects during the visitation, which will take place on Thursday, August 24, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services located at 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Joyce's remarkable life will follow the visitation at 2:00 p.m., also at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services in Mt. Holly, NC with Rev. Brian Elwell officiating.  Burial will follow at Hillcrest Gardens Cemetery, Mt. Holly.

Joyce Brittain Ballard was a kind-hearted and compassionate woman who brought happiness and love into the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her departure leaves a void that can never be filled. May her memories live on eternally in our hearts.
