Joseph "Bob" Robert Brousseau, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, was born on January 3, 1943, in Salem, Massachusetts to the late Leo and Marie LeClair Brousseau. He passed away peacefully at his residence on February 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Bob’s life was marked by a deep commitment to his family and community. As a U.S. Army Veteran, he demonstrated his dedication to service, a theme that carried through to every aspect of his life. Bob was actively involved in the First Baptist Church of Stanley, where he contributed his time and effort to the Sunday security team. His faith and community spirit were integral parts of his identity.
A man of varied interests, Bob had a passion for the outdoors, particularly enjoying yard work that reflected his love for nature. He found joy in the thrill of casino games and spent countless happy hours engaging with challenging crossword puzzles. His heart found its rhythm in the sports he loved; a fervent supporter of the Boston Bruins, he was equally animated when cheering for the Washington Redskins, now known as the Washington Commanders. Bob's enthusiasm was infectious, creating a sense of camaraderie among friends and family alike.
Bob was the proud husband of Bonnie Brousseau, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years filled with love and laughter. Together, they nurtured a family that he adored immensely. He is survived by his children, Kevin Hamm (Teri), Kendra Darrow (David), Kyle Difulvio (Jon), and Andrew Brousseau, who will carry forward his legacy of love. His joy was multiplied by his grandchildren—Cody Hamm (Frances), Dillan Van Nostrand (Daryan), Frankie Darrow, Royce King, and Matthew Brousseau, and by his great grandchildren, Vivian, Kit, Lincoln, Zola, and Macon.
A bond remained with his special “BRO” Eric Eichler (Nancy), and he was loved by many nieces and nephews who held a unique place in his heart. Bob’s church family, too, will remember him for the warmth and kindness he brought into their lives, as he made connections that spanned beyond mere friendships.
Though his life was rich with love and laughter, it also bore moments of sorrow. He was preceded in death by his sister, Rita; his brother, Joseph Brousseau; his daughter, Krishna Bolen; and his grandson, Ian King. These losses were felt deeply by Bob, yet his love for his family endures, leaving an indelible mark on those who knew him.
As we remember Bob Brousseau, let us celebrate a life well-lived—a life characterized by love, commitment, and unwavering support for those he cherished. He will be dearly missed, yet his spirit will forever shine brightly in the hearts of his loved ones.
Services will be held privately by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Stanley, 409 Old Mt Holly Rd, Stanley, NC 28164.
The family would like to extend their extreme thanks to their extended family in the neighborhood for their love and care given to Bob and his family during this time.
