John Richard Akers

John Richard Akers, 33, of York, SC, passed away November 2, 2017 at his residence.  John was born August 24, 1984 in Beckley, West Virginia to Rick and Arlene Akers.  He was preceded in death by Great Grandmother, Elsie White; Grandfather, John Akers, Sr.; and “Uncle” Rick Lane.  John enjoyed spending time with his family, loved football and was a huge Carolina Panthers fan, Nascar and Dale Earnhardt Sr. fan, fishing, and spending time with his friends.  He also loved to visit and travel back home to West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, John is survived by his wife, Kelly Dowdy Akers; children, Bethany Akers, Baylee Akers, Addy Akers, and Ben Wallace; sisters, Marie Akers Williams and husband Danny and Tiffany Akers Apple and husband Joe; nieces, Brittany Akers Walden and husband Chris, Cassy Williams, Chloe Poole, Hanna Dowdy, McKayla Dowdy, Jessie and Kendall, Brittany and Kaylee Summey; nephews, Wesley Summey, Austin Callejas, and Brennan; Mother in law, Rita Dowdy; Father in law, Luther Dowdy and Lisa Bell; Grandparents, Dora Coburn and Pat Akers; Great Niece, Claire Walden; Great Nephew, Clayton Williams; and numerous close friends.

John’s family will be holding a Memorial gathering at his parent’s home in York, SC on Saturday, November 4, 2017 from 4:00 p.m – until.
