Joe Wilson, Sr.

Joe Louis Wilson, Sr., 82, of Gastonia, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 at Robin Johnson Hospice House. He was born in Cleveland County on May 22, 1938, the son of the late J.A.C. Wilson and Elmer Brown Wilson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, June Wilson, and Johnny Wilson. Joe's favorite hobby was fishing. He also enjoyed watching airplanes take off and land, cowboy movies, Hawaii Five O, the Price is Right, Let's Make a Deal, the Jerry Springer show, and working on cars. He always wanted to take a cruise however, COVID-19 restrictions prevented him from achieving that. Joe always had a joke and would make you laugh. He would do anything he could to help out someone and volunteered at many churches in Shelby, assisting with their food banks. Joe was loved by his family and numerous friends, and will be dearly missed.

Joe is survived by his children, Catherine Denise Wilson, David Lee Wilson, Joe Louis Wilson, Jr.; sisters, Linda Harind, Thelma Surrett; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren, Chiquita Denise Robinson and husband Mike Lee Robinson, Nakayla Ann Robinson, Nakenzie Judiannah Robinson, Michael Keegan Lee Robinson, Emanuel Thompson, Cherish Hart Moore, Cherry Hart, Trey Moore, Tasha Hart, Shirley Hart, Javana Johnson, Shericka Ann Wilson, Donza Lamar Steele, Destiny Wilson, Malcolm Kasper Legend Robinson, Nakaydence Leaira Robinson, Mikahjah Robinson, Tessa Nevaeh Robinson, Malachi Benjamin Lamar Steele Thompson; nieces and nephews, Melissa, Sherry, Dwayne, Repearla, Theresa, Timmy, Michael, Raymond, Destiny; children's mother, Vera Craft Wilson, and her sisters, Alice Wilson, Bonita Wilson; friend, Anthony Smith; and numerous other cousins, friends, and other relatives.
