Jerry Wayne Withrow

Jerry Wayne Withrow, 69,of Charlotte beloved father and grandfather passed away at his residence Friday, April 17, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer and COPD. Born April 5, 1946 to the late Elizabeth Smith Calhoun and the late John Withrow in Lexington, Va. He was also the beloved husband of his wife Doris who had passed away this past January. Jerry retired April 4, 2008 from the Charlotte Observer after 29 years of service. Survived by his step father John Calhoun, Sr., daughters, Lori Foster and Lisa Frisbee, all of Charlotte. The loves of his life, his grandchildren, Joseph Frisbee, Avery Foster, Ashley Treat and Evan Foster, all of Charlotte also. One sister, four brothers and numerous nieces and nephews and special son-in-law, Kevin Treat.

Memorial services to celebrate Jerry`s life will be held Tuesday, April 21 at 7:00 PM at the Chapel of Benson Funeral Services in Mt. Holly. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM also at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please send donations to the COPD Foundation, 20 F Street NW, Suite 200A, Washington, DC 20001.
