Jean F. Taylor, 92, of Lake Wylie, SC passed away January 21, 2016 at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. Mrs. Taylor was born February 24, 1923 in Kossuth, PA to the late Ira and Hattie Say Fye. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, William E. Taylor, son-in-law, David Palmer and 5 brothers: Ray, Clarence, Lester, Donald and Hubert Fye. Jean had a successful and varied nursing career serving as hospital nurse, school nurse, beginning a visiting nurse program for Venango County, PA, and concluding her career as a nursing home administrator. Jean was a loyal member of River Hills Community Church in Lake Wylie where she was a consistent presence in Sunday School, Prayer Shawl Ministry, Tuesday Women of the Church, and also Wednesday evening Bible study. She was an active member of the Sweet Repeat Foundation, Daughter of the American Revolution (D.A.R.), Beta Sigma Phi, loved playing bridge, reading, knitting, baking cookies, maintaining physical fitness, and was an avid quilter. She treasured her time with family and friends.
Survivors include her children: Pamela Taylor, Nancy Palmer and Robert Taylor and wife Patti. Grandchildren: C.J. (Lydia) and Brandon Palmer, Jason and Jenna Taylor and great-grandchildren: Amelia Palmer and also, expected in May, Hazel Palmer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at River Hill Community Church, Lake Wylie, SC at 3:00 pm on January 30, 2016 with Pastors Gayle Montgomery and Jason Bryant officiating. Visitation with family and friends will follow the service.
