Jane Lane Goodin ended a life well lived on January 1, 2025. She was born to William and Edna (Grubb) Lane on February 9, 1927.
Jane was very involved in several clubs in Columbus and Grove City, Ohio area. Including the Grove City Civic Club, Business and Professional Women, G.C. United Methodist women’s circles and was involved with The Gardens at Gantz Farm, from the beginning, until she moved to Chattanooga in 2006. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star (50+years), Toastmistress, The Herb Society of America for 40 years, and the Agonis Club. She helped in planning the herb gardens at Gantz Farm and Innis Wood Park. After moving to Chattanooga, TN, she joined the Master Gardeners and started an herb club named Chattanooga Herbies.
She and her husband, David, started Lincoln Village Transit Co. in the early 1960’s and ran up to 30 buses over the years. She was proud that she could drive a bus and that she had a CDL license. She also was the first person licensed to drive an 88-passenger school bus in the State of Ohio. She worked for Curtis-Wright during WWII, Jefferies Manufacturing Co., South-western City Schools, Wallick Construction, St. Marks Episcopal Church and HER Realtors.
She loved to travel and set up group tours. Her travels took her to Most of the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii. She traveled to Mexico, South America, Aruba, as well as Canada, and Europe several times. She loved cooking and bringing food to gatherings and continued cooking into her mid-90s. She collected thousands of recipes and loved her cooking magazines.
She is preceded in death by her parents; ex-husband, David; her brothers, Jack Lane (Jo), Jerry Lane (Ann) and Jim Lane; brother-in-law, Sam Goodin; Sons-in-law, Frank Reeves (Lavonne) and Larry Call (Lavonne); and also, a great grandchild, Micha Hawkins.
She is survived by her children, Kevin Hawkins (Trudy), Lavonne Call, Suzanne Dean (Kevin) and Dwight Goodin; her Grandchildren, Tara Hawkins, Keely Crawford (Shon) and Lindsay Clifford (Dylan), Rachel McDaniel; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters in law, Phyllis Lane (Jim), Cheryl Goodin (Sam); as well as her much loved nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her many dear friends. She loved life and believed that she would never die, and she will never die- in our hearts.
Celebrations of her life will be held in Chattanooga and central Ohio on future dates.
