James "Skid" Blair Skidmore, 77, of Charlotte passed away December 16, 2018 at his residence. Skid was born on March 28, 1941 in Asheville, NC to the late Andrew and Margaret Griggs Skidmore. He is also preceded in death by a sister, Jane Mills Kilby. Skid was a longtime member of Gloryland Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending time in the mountains and also his time when he coached Pop Warner Football. Skid worked with his uncle for 36 years at Skidmore's Jewelry Repair. He also enjoyed working on dirt track race cars. Skid was also known for loving his "Little Debbie's" snack cakes.
Skid is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Brotherton Skidmore; children, Timothy James Skidmore and wife Angie, Sandi Michele Skidmore and fiance Roger Ruppe, Randy Lee Skidmore, and Christie Lynn Skidmore; 2 grandchildren, Haley Skidmore and Mallory Skidmore.
A funeral service to celebrate Skid's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Gloryland Baptist Church, 3001 Gloryland Ave., Charlotte, NC with Rev. Sammy Case officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
