James "Mickey" Michael Gordon

James Michael Gordon "Mickey", 71, of Mount Holly, passed away peacefully at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center, on Tuesday, July 11, 2023.  He was born in Mecklenburg County to the late James Franklin Gordon and Ola Rainwater Gordon.  He was a loving and caring husband, father, brother, grandpa, and uncle.  Mickey was preceded in death by both parents, James and Ola Gordon; both sets of grandparents; one sister, Jean Stewart; one brother; "Big Ray" Gordon; one son, Chris Elmore; one granddaughter, Savanna Elmore; and three nephews, Frankie Sundeen, Quinn Poteat, and Raidyn Welch.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 35 years, Doris Gordon; his children, Barbara Jean Greely, Ersie Stone and husband Clay, and Josh Elmore; his siblings, Donnie Gordon and wife Lanie, Dub Mayes, Wayne Mayes and wife Dean, Bobbie Avant and husband Jimmy, Kay Settlemyre, and Bernice Poteat; his grandchildren, Michael Greely, Velvin "Q-Ball" Lewis, Madison Dulin, Grant Stone, Abby Stone, Makayla Stone, and Landon Elmore; 7 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, July 14, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly officiated by Greg Farmer.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Autism Society of America.
