James "Curt" Meeler

James "Curt" Meeler, 67, of Stanley passed away January 13, 2022 at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. He was born on November 17, 1954 to the late Joe James Meeler and Isabel Woody Meeler. He is also preceded in death by his son, James Curtis Meeler, Jr.and brother, Ronald Meeler. He was a member of Redeemed Freewill Baptist Church and he loved studying the word of God. Curt loved basketball and was a UNC Tarheel fan. He was also a Dallas Cowboys fan. He used to play shortstop for the R.L. Stowe Industrial Softball League. Curt also had a black belt in karate. He loved being around his grand kids. He was very active and was a hard worker.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Joyce Wright Meeler; daughter, Teresa Meeler Morgan and son in law, Jeromy Morgan; sisters, Billie Jo Featherstone, Wanda Allen and Kim Flowers and husband Chuck; brothers, Richard Meeler, Kenneth Meeler, Joe Meeler, Reggie Meeler, and Donald Meeler and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Jacob and Caitlyn; great grandchildren, Waylon and Mason; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly with Rev. Billy Wooten officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Belmont.
