James "Jimmy" David Nichols

James "Jimmy" David Nichols, a beloved figure in the community, passed away on June 26, 2024 at the age of 68, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication. Born on June 25, 1956, to Ila Nichols and the late William "Pete" Nichols in Forsyth County, Jimmy's vibrant spirit touched the lives of many.

Jimmy was known as the heart and soul behind Nichols Food Stores, where he poured his passion for service into every aspect of the business. His work and commitment made a lasting impact on all who crossed paths with him. Jimmy's entrepreneurial spirit shone brightly throughout his career.

Educated at Appalachian State University and Western Carolina University, Jimmy earned an Associates Degree and a Bachelors Degree, showcasing his dedication to learning and growth. His pursuit of knowledge was matched only by his love for his family and grandchildren.

Outside of work, Jimmy found joy in various hobbies and interests. An avid golfer and previous member of Glen Oaks Country Club, he found solace on the golf course. His love for the beach and Florida provided moments of tranquility amidst life's hustle. A devoted Duke Blue Devils fan, Jimmy cheered on his team with unwavering loyalty. 

Jimmy's passing deeply saddened those who knew him, especially after losing his brother, Larry Nichols before him. However, he leaves behind a cherished family who will carry his memory with them always. In addition to his mother, Ila Nichols, Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 7 years, Michelle Nichols; children, Joshua Nichols (Rachel), Michael Nichols (Erinn), Charles Nichols (Alexandria), Christina Davis, and Bradley Saunders; brothers, William Glenn Nichols Sr. and Robert "Bobby" Kevin Nichols (Karen); as well as 12 adoring grandchildren.

A visitation for Jimmy will be held on Sunday, June 30th from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM followed by a Memorial Service at 3:00 PM at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services located at 101 Oak Grove St., Mt. Holly, NC 28120.

James "Jimmy" David Nichols will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and love for his family. May his soul rest in peace as we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he leaves behind.
