It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of James John DelGiudice on September 2, 2023. Born on May 23rd, 1958, in Glen Cove, Long Island, NY, Jimmy’s time among us was tragically cut short by a rare and aggressive cancer, leaving a void in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
“Jim” or “Jimmy”, as he was affectionately known to his family and friends, was a man who lived life to the fullest. He was a unique person; charming and charismatic. He was fun to be around, funny and kept everyone laughing; but he was also very loving. Jimmy had an unwavering protective love for his family and friends. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.
He had an insatiable love for the ocean, finding solace and joy in its depths, whether it was through boating, deep-sea fishing, or simply gazing out at its vast expanse.
Throughout his life, Jimmy was a man of many talents and interests. He dabbled in various trades, but his true source of pride was being a successful business owner. He was an amazing landscaper/horticulturist creating exotic and beautiful landscapes.
Jimmy’s love for animals, especially his dogs, was enduring. He cherished the companionship of his furry friends and provided them with a life filled with love.
He is preceded in death by his father, James Carmine DelGiudice, and his stepfather, Rudy DeFendis. Jimmy is survived by his loving mother, Marilyn DeFendis; sister, Nancy Couture; and brother, Dennis DelGiudice. His legacy also lives on through his five nieces and nephews, Brendan, Bridgette, Dennis, Corey, and Joseph, as well as his five great-nieces and great-nephews, Damien, Riley, Mavis, Oliver, and Margot. Although Jimmy was a lifelong bachelor and never had children of his own, he is also survived by the children that he helped raise through the years, Jesse, Ronnie, Gabby, and Timmy.
Jimmy’s lifelong friend, Debi Redmond, shared countless memories and adventures with him, and their bond was unbreakable.
A celebration of Jimmy’s life will take place where friends and family will gather to honor his memory, share stories, and find solace in each other’s company. The Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 3 , 2024 at Cupsoque Beach County Park located at 975 Dune Rd., West Hampton Beach, N.Y. 11978 and will begin at 9:00 a.m. In accordance with his wishes, Jimmy will be scattered with the vast ocean he held so dear allowing his spirit to become one.
In his shortened time with us, James John DelGiudice touched the hearts of many with his kindness, passion, and zest for life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, adventure, and resilience that will forever inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit lives on in the memories and love we hold dear.
