Irma Raymond, a devoted mother, grandmother, and woman of unwavering faith, passed away at the age of 83, on June 19, 2024, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia, NC. She was born in Haiti on October 16, 1940, to the late Léon A. and Clélie M. Raymond.
Irma's life was defined by her love for her family. Her only daughter, Victoire "Vicky", was the center of her world, and she took immense pride and joy in watching her grow from a young girl into a wife and mother herself. A dedicated and protective mother, Irma always ensured that she supported Vicky, in any way possible even through adulthood. As a grandmother, Irma cherished all three of her grandchildren, with a special bond with Troy whom she affectionately called "Ti Lou."
Beyond her role as a family matriarch, Irma was known for her deep routed Christian faith. She spent countless hours each day in prayer, fasting, and studying the Bible. Her spirituality was the guiding force in her life and touched all those around her.
After retiring from her beloved position of more than 30 years as a supervisor from DGI (Direction General des Impots in Haiti/The tax collection agency), Irma moved to NC to live with her daughter and helped in taking care of her grandchildren. In the later years, she found solace and joy in simple pleasures - tending to her beloved flower garden (especially her favorite gardenia bush), solving crossword puzzles and word searches, indulging in Netflix and cooking shows, reading, and light cooking. These hobbies reflected her independent spirit and nurturing nature.
In addition to her parents, Irma was preceded in death by her sister, Josette Raymond and brothers, Serge, Leon, Roland, and Andre Raymond. She is survived by a legacy of love carried on by her daughter, Victoire and husband Steve Bernard; grandchildren: Giovanni, Troy, and Michael Bernard; brother: Martial Raymond and wife Ghislaine; sisters-in-law: Jeanette Raymond and Lisette Raymond; nieces: Alexandra Raymond, Vanessa Raymond Cayo, Sergely Raymond Charley, Tashia Raymond and Sarah Raymond; nephews: Gregory, Martial Jr., Thierry and Alain Raymond; as well as extended family, Gina Raymond Anglade, (Goddaughter), Bernade Raymond Lissade, Marie-Clyse Raymond Cadet, and Maxime Raymond.
