Gloria Jean Burnett, age 55, died August 10, 2013 at the Robin Johnson House in Dallas, NC. Mrs. Burnett was born on May 8, 1958 in Cleveland, OH to the late Manuel Dowdle II and Louise Godfrey Dowdle. She was also preceded in death by brothers; Angelo Ferris Dowdle and Manuel Dowdle III. Gloria was an outgoing and personable person, well liked, made friends easily and loved all aspects of life which included her love of music. Gloria spent most of her life in Cleveland before moving to Mt. Holly, NC. She and her husband were married July 17, 1982. Before moving to NC, Gloria was a police dispatcher for the Olmstead Township, Ohio police department. She was presently employed with Weiser Security as a security guard.
Gloria leaves to mourn her husband; Roderick "Chip" Burnett, Jr., Daughter; Shana Fink, Son; Roderick "Trae" Burnett, III and Manuel Burnett. Five Grandchildren; Dominic, Ramon, James, Nathaniel and Gabby. She also leaves a sister; Gladys Dowdle and husband Jim Vittek and a brother; Anthony Dowdle and a host of relatives and friends.
The Life and Celebration of Mrs. Burnett will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday August 17th at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly with Pastor Kenneth Moore and Minister Russell Davidson officiating. Inurnment will be private.
In lieu of Flowers the family requests memorials be made in Gloria's name to Robin Johnson House, PO Box 3984, Gastonia, NC 28054.
