Gerald "Matt" Matthew Flowers

Gerald Matthew “Matt” Flowers, 38, of Mt. Holly passed away August 5, 2018 at his residence.  Matt was born on October 15, 1979 in Gaston County to Gerald Thomas Flowers and Elizabeth Deree Bumgardner.  He is preceded in death by paternal grandparents, George and Clara Flowers and maternal grandparents, Elex and Faye Bumgardner.  Matt was a 1997 graduate of East Gaston High School.  He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed playing golf and fishing.  He also dearly loved his dogs, Chappa and Escou.

Matt is survived by his father and stepmother, Tommy and Teri Flowers; mother and stepfather, Deree and Ernie Barrameda; half-brothers, Cullen and Claude; and Fiance' and her children, Marye Velasco, Danny, Monica, Jessica, and Christian.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services, Mt. Holly with Rev. Raymond Johns officiating.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will be private.
