Gerald Allen Call, Jr.

Gerald Allen Call, Jr., 76, of Charlotte, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Charlotte Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on February 18, 1947 in Richmond, Virginia to the late Gerald Allen Call, Sr. (Jack) and Frances Hall Call.  His family moved to Bluefield, West Virginia when he was a young child, and later to Charlotte when he was 14.  

Gerald attended Pfeiffer College and subsequently worked as an accountant in his father’s businesses, Jack Call Piano Company of Charlotte and Call Manufacturing Company of Monroe, North Carolina.  Gerald then became self-employed as a business consultant in Computer Information Technology until his retirement. 

Gerald was preceded in death in 2017 by his daughter Kelly Blaine Call and in 2023 by his brother, Frank Arnold Call.  He is survived by three sisters, Barbara Call McGowan of Southern Pines, North Carolina, and Donna Faye Call and Sharon Mae Call, both of Charlotte.  

Gerald was an avid sports fan, and particularly loved college and professional football.    He played high school football and loved playing pool throughout his life. He enjoyed blue grass and folk music, especially the works of Bob Dylan. 

The family will attend private funeral services for Gerald, and he will be interred in a family cemetery in Floyd, Virginia.
