Barbara Gail Ratliff, age 68, died on February 2, 2022 at The Pavilion Health Center at Brightmore, Charlotte, NC.
She was born on October 24, 1953 in Tazewell County, VA to the late William Arthur Ratliff and Carolena Cochran Ratliff. In addition to her parents, Gail was also preceded in death by her brother, Anthony "Tony" Ratliff of Rosedale, VA.
Gail lived most of her life in Mesa, AZ, before briefly moving to San Antonio, TX and later settling in Charlotte, NC. Gail was an avid booster of the Mesa High School marching band. She worked in the flooring industry for many years, and finished her career working in healthcare. Gail enjoyed travel and new dining experiences, and was fortunate to see both Europe, Hawaii, Mexico, Alaska, and much of the Continental US during her lifetime.
She is survived by her son, William Ratliff and his wife, Kimberly, of Charlotte, NC; her sister-in-law, Pam Keene Ratliff, of Rosedale, VA; her nephews, Travis Ratliff of Rosedale, VA and Timothy Ratliff of Asheville, NC; her “niece”, Karla Beams Taylor, of Bettendorf, IA; extended family, dear friends, co-workers and caregivers.
An outdoor, graveside memorial service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 1462 Armstrong Ford Rd, Belmont, NC on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 am. Pastor Glenn Rogers will officiate. Private burial immediately to follow.
COVID-19 PRECAUTIONS: The family asks those attending the memorial service to wear a mask which properly covers both nose and mouth, and to be mindful of social distancing to the extent possible. The family requests that you stay home and remember Gail privately if you have symptoms of any illness, if you or a household member are currently COVID-19 positive, or if you have been recently exposed to someone who is COVID-19 positive.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Carolina Waterfowl Rescue, 5403 Poplin Road, Indian Trail, NC 28079 or https://cwrescue.org; or a charity of your choice that reminds you of Gail. Ongoing blood donations in your local community are another way to honor her memory.
