Fernando "Ferny" Sandoval

Fernando "Ferny" Sandoval, 21, of Mount Holly, passed away on May 3, 2020. He was born on August 7, 1998 in Reno, Nevada, the son of Manolo and Elba Sandoval. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Gastonia. Ferny enjoyed playing basketball and baseball, fishing, golfing, and traveling. He was involved with providing service to others and helping them in any way he could.

In addition to his mother and father, Ferny is survived by his maternal grandparents, Juana and Bernardo Morel; paternal grandparents, Kathy and Joe Barragan, Manuel and Maribel Sandoval; brother, Alejandro Sandoval; his Runnymeade basketball friends; canine companion, Lightning; and several uncles and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm, in the gym at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2710 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054.

A private family funeral service, with livestream available, will be held on Friday, May 8, 2020, 1:00 pm, with Counselor Kevin Potter officiating. Interment will be private for family only.

Fernando "Ferny" Sandoval, 21 años de edad, de Mount Holly, falleció 3 de mayo 2020. El nació el 7 de agosto 1998 en Reno, Nevada, hijo de Manolo y Elba Sandoval. Era miembro de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días en Gastonia. Ferny le gustaba jugar baloncesto y béisbol, pescar, jugar golf, y viajar. Se involucraba en el servicio de otros de cualquier manera que podía.

Además de su madre y padre, Ferny es sobrevivido por sus abuelos maternos, Juana y Bernardo Morel; sus abuelos paternos Kathy Joe Barragan, Manuel y Maribel Sandoval; su hermano Alejandro Sandoval; sus amigos de baloncesto en Runnymeade; su mascota Lightning; y varios tíos y primos.

El velorio será llevado acabo viernes, 8 de mayo, 2020 de las 10 am a 12:00 pm en el gimnasio de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los Últimos Días, 2710 Redbud Drive, Gastonia, NC 28054. Por favor tenga en cuenta que reglas de distanciamiento social serán seguidas y habrá turnos de grupos de no más de 10 personas admitidos a la vez.

El funeral privado para la familia será transmitido en vivo viernes 8 de mayo, 2020 a la 1:00 pm con Consejero Kevin Potter de la rama Gardner Park oficiando.
