Eva "Irene Meza, 66, of Dallas, NC, peacefully passed away on April 9, 2024, at Caromont Regional Medical Center in Gastonia. She was born in Bristol, TN, on May 21, 1957, to the late Clarence and Marie Hendrix Sr. Known for her warm and gentle spirit, Irene led a content and joyous life filled with simple pleasures that brought her immense happiness.
One of Irene's favorite pastimes was sitting on her porch, where she found solace and tranquility in the world around her. She also took great pleasure in tending to her flower gardens and embarking on shopping excursions and trips with her beloved sisters.
Family was at the core of Irene's heart, and she took great pride in her role as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Irene's proudest accomplishment was the unconditional love she shared with all her grandchildren. She cherished every moment spent with them and found pure joy in creating lasting memories.
In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth Myers. She is survived by her devoted loving husband of 25 years, Jose Meza; her loving children, Michael Rice and Jessica Rice; caring sisters, Sharon Watson (Tony) and Pamela "Pam" Carter (Jeff); supportive brothers, Clarence Hendrix Jr. and Robert Hendrix (Jamie); adored grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Brianna, Austin, and Courtney; as well as her cherished pet dogs, Zoe and Bella.
A visitation to honor Irene's memory will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services in Mt. Holly. This will be followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM at the same location. Inurnment Burial by the family will follow at 2:00 PM at Northlake Memorial Gardens in Huntersville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Eva "Irene" Meza will forever be remembered for her kind heart, contagious laughter, and unwavering love for her family. Her presence will be deeply missed but her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in everlasting peace.
