Ethel Mae Hannah

Ethel Mae Hannah, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother, age 97, of Gastonia,  passed away peacefully at her residence on August 14, 2023. She was born on June 7, 1926 to the late Floyd and Candace Beam Lingerfelt.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Troy Hannah; children, Della, Gene, Tammy, and Tommy; and her daughter in law, Gayle Hinson.

Ethel was a devoted family woman who cherished her loved ones above all else. She beamed with joy as she watched her children grow and thrive. Ethel's caring nature extended to all aspects of her life. She had a deep love for sewing and was known for her beautiful quilts that she meticulously crafted by hand. Gardening and cooking were also passions of Ethel's, and she found solace in nurturing her plants and preparing delicious meals for her family.  When she wasn't busy with all of the above, she enjoyed sitting down and finding rest while watching westerns on her television.

To honor Ethel's life, her family has arranged funeral services to be held at Benson Funeral & Cremation Services in Mt. Holly, North Carolina with Rev. Andy Nicholson officiating. The visitation will take place on August 18, 2023, starting at 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM and burial will follow the services immediately at Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia.

Ethel's memory will forever be treasured by her sons, Brian Hannah and his partner Daniel Wilson, Stanley Hannah and wife Elaine, Dennis Hannah and wife Faye, and Larry Hinson; daughter, Diana Granson and husband John; and her granddaughter who was a special caretaker to Ethel, Angie Weathers and husband Josh . Ethel's legacy also lives on through numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren.

The loss of Ethel Mae Hannah leaves a void in the hearts of all those who knew her. Her warm presence, unconditional love, and dedication to family will be deeply missed. May her gentle soul find eternal rest as we celebrate the remarkable life she lived.
