Elizabeth Matos

Elizabeth Matos, 69, of Belmont and formerly of Chicago, IL., passed away October 8, 2015 at CMC Mercy Hospital in Charlotte. Ms. Matos was born in Ciales, Puerto Rico on November 25, 1945 to Maria Padilla Matos and the late Dolores Matos. She was also preceded in death by her sister Dolores Villalobos. She was an avid knitter and was a loving grandmother to her grandson and loved to cook. Her speciality was making perfect rice and attended Bethlehem Church in Gastonia. In addition to her mother she is survived by her daughter Omaya Roman Stangle and husband Jeff, her favorite "and only" son in law. Grandson Julian. Brothers and sisters, Lydia Guercio, Juan Matos, Gladys Reyes, Nilda Ruiz and Angel Matos.

A Visitation to honor her memory will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday at Benson Funeral Chapel, Mt. Holly. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at St. Marks Catholic Church in Chicago. Interment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles. Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 PM Thursday at Alvarez Funeral Directors in Chicago.
